If you feel like you’re in an emotional rut of any kind, there’s a unique idea being floated online for how you can get out of it.

They call it the 90-day dinner!  The idea is to ask for a “90 Day Dinner” with your pals whenever you’re in a rut.  If someone initiates the plan, the friends will go through their calendars, pick a date, and commit to it.  Then, when the day arrives, they check in with each other.  People who have done this say they’re usually out of the rut and things are better than they anticipated.

I love this for so many reasons…

  1. It gives you something on your calendar to look forward to.
  2. It can create a real sense of community and being there for each other among your friends.  T
  3. It reminds us about something I’ve found to be true… we go through cycles – up, down, and in between. And if you’re in a down cycle or a rut, it’s good to have a reminder that it won’t always be like that.

Those behind the idea say after 90 days, you may not be healed form the job-loss, the break-up, or whatever it is…but chances are you will have experienced some slight change in perspective. And even if not, you still get a hug from your friends.

So, if you’re in a rut – consider floating this idea by your pals and getting a 90-day dinner on the schedule.
