FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A student in Fort Wayne was shot to death over the weekend.

They were one of eleven people shot late Saturday night, say police. The age of the student hasn’t been made public yet, but police say they were at a party along with several other high school-age kids.

They got calls about shots being fired at the party and they arrived to find dozens of people running in different directions. Once they got a handle on the situation police found the child dead and ten other people wounded.

No word yet on who the shooter was. The other ten people who were hurt suffered “non-life threatening injuries”, say police.

Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker issued the following statement on the shooting:

My heart is heavy today as we try to process the violence that occurred in our city last night. The FWPD is working tirelessly to learn more about what happened and bring those responsible to justice. The safety and security of our community are vital to help ensure a better future for Fort Wayne. My prayer is that we’ll come together unified as residents and neighbors and not accept this type of behavior.
