It’s easy to look back at our past and think of all of the woulda, coulda, shoulda’s. Maybe you even look on big parts of your past with regret. Maybe you beat yourself up over your past.
I love what author Bob Goff says in his book “Dream Big”:
“Don’t get punked by your past. It will lie to you, distract you, try to get your attention, and then laugh at you for looking. Shame has one goal and one goal alone – to keep you cemented in a dark past, while it hides a beautiful future from you.” (p.29)
I couldn’t love that sentiment enough. Our past can often be this prison that we often find ourselves locked in and we forget we have the key. Learn from your past, grow from your past, but don’t let it hold you back another second. And don’t let it keep you from moving forward.
So in the words of Bob Goff – “don’t be punked by your past!”
