McGhosts of McDonald’s Past: Most Craved Discontinued Items

The McRib, Snack Wraps, and Other McGhosts of McDonald’s Past
McDonald’s has served up a lot of things over the years—Big Macs, Happy Meals, and the occasional menu curveball that somehow became iconic. A new study took a nostalgic bite into more than 70 discontinued McDonald’s items to find out which ones fans are still craving.
Unsurprisingly, the McRib claimed the top spot, racking up over 94,000 monthly Google searches. For a sandwich that’s basically a cult classic, that’s not shocking. Its “farewell tour” seems more like a rock band’s—always retiring, never gone for long.
Right behind the McRib in popularity: the beloved Snack Wraps. Whether you were Team Ranch or Team Honey Mustard, their bite-sized convenience and crispy chicken crunch left a lasting impression. In fact, people have been pleading for their comeback ever since they disappeared from the drive-thru lineup. They’re coming back July 10th. Thank you, Caitlin Clark.
Other dearly departed fan favorites include the Spicy Chicken McNuggets (because sometimes a regular nugget just doesn’t bring enough heat), and the McDLT—a ‘90s-era creation that kept the hot and cool parts of your burger separate until the very last second.
It’s a reminder that while some McDonald’s items come and go, others leave behind a legacy of late-night cravings and nostalgic memories.
