INDIANAPOLIS–Patients at Riley Hospital for Children were surprised with tickets this week to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Indianapolis.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during a Taylor Swift-inspired event at the hospital. 16 patients gathered to make friendship bracelets and play “Taylor Trivia.”
The last trivia question revealed the surprise.

“Who will be at Taylor’s final show on the last leg of her U.S. tour in Indianapolis on Sunday?”
“umm…Travis Kelce?” guessed a patient. Kelce has been Swift’s boyfriend since 2023.
Instead, they were told they would all be going. The patients in the room erupted with glee when they found out. Many were left speechless with tears streaming down their faces as the shock wore off.
“I literally cannot stop crying right now. I have no words. I can’t hold back my emotions,” said Emma Sully. She’s from Fort Wayne and recently received a heart transplant.
DeAndria Powell is from Evansville. Her daughter is Izzi Boyd. She is a sickle cell patient. She says Swift’s song “Shake it Off” has been a helpful song for both her and her daughter when dealing with pain and frustration.
“We always try to shake it off before we take any medications. We see if we can shake it off,” said Powell. “She and I have never had an experience like this, so it doesn’t just mean a lot to Izzi. It means a lot to me.”
Charily Carty is from Clinton, Indiana. She’s 11 years old. She’s been a Riley patient since she was two years old because she’s been battling scoliosis.
“This is going to be my first concert ever. I love Taylor Swift. She’s one of my favorite singers. I felt happy and very excited and like I was going to cry with how happy I was once the announcement was made,” said Carty.
The announcement was made in collaboration with the Riley Children’s Foundation and Lora Denney from Denney Excavating, who gifted the suite tickets to the patients.
