Tune up Tuesday!  A little nugget you might be able to use to “tune up” a relationship in your life.  In addition to hosting mornings on B105.7, I work as a therapist in the afternoon (Evolve Therapy in Greenwood, IN).  This week, the top 2 ways to reconnect after a fight:

  1. You’ve got to talk about it.  What triggered you?  Why did you get so upset?  How were you feeling DURING the fight and how are you feeling now?  Brushing it under the rug and NOT talking about it’s not a long term recipe for success.  After you talk about it, work to restore connection.  A great way to do that is through…
  2. Appreciation.  I encourage couples to share 5 things they appreciate about each other after a fight.  Research shows the happiest couples maintain a 5 to 1 ratio of positive to negative interactions… so, if you have the 1 negative, appreciation is a way to consciously create the 5 positive.
