Apps, personal trainers, OrangeTheory, CrossFit, boot camps, at-home programs… there are endless options for you to grow in your fitness journey.

I’m a simple gym person who likes to workout at my own pace lifting weights, but gym intimidation is a real thing that I had to overcome when I first started going. You’re surrounded by people who look so comfortable & confident and you feel out of place… but guess what? They had to start somewhere too. Know what else is great? Everyone is focusing on themselves and their journey—unless you don’t follow gym etiquette and re-rack your weights or you’re not giving someone their space, they probably won’t even pay attention to what you’re doing ha!

What helped me get over my gym intimidation? Women with Instagram fitness accounts.

Yup! I just started following a bunch of women who posted their workouts (a lot of them are local or are from Indiana, by the way!). I saved their posts in my Instagram Bookmarks and referenced them when I was at the gym so I didn’t feel lost or unsure of what to do next.

TIP: Create different Collections in your Instagram Saved section—Legs, Back, Shoulders, Abs, Chest, etc. That way when you’re at the gym you can quickly go to that section and pick a workout to do.

You know what’s most important? YOU’RE THERE. You’re prioritizing your health and that’s the ultimate goal.

There are A TON of inspiring fit women on Instagram, but these are the handful that helped me (and still do)! They all have a story about why they started lifting and prioritizing fitness. I hope they inspire yours too!
