Every relationship hits speed bumps, but this ingredient could help you cross those speed bumps without even feeling them.  That’s this week’s Tune Up Tuesday – a little nugget you may be able to use to “tune up” your relationship.

In addition to hosting this morning show, I work as a therapist in the afternoons.  Accepting new clients now. More info here.

I have never heard of a couple having a desire to breakup because there’s too much appreciation for one another.  If appreciation is missing, however, it can make little speed bumps in your relationship feel like something insurmountable.  Plus, if you’re expressing appreciation for things big and small… you’re motivating each other to keep doing more of those good, nurturing things.

I recommend to couples I work with to make this a practice  My fiancé Andy and I… every night before we shut the light out and go to sleep, we express three appreciations for one another.  Some days you have to get more creative than others.  Some days you have some repeats, but you get to go to bed with your tail wagging and it helps you scan the environment during the day for things to appreciate.  It transforms the way you see your partner and your entire relationship AND it sets you up to more easily cross over those inevitable speed bumps you’re going to hit.
