Should You Make a Mid-Year Resolution?
Here we are halfway through 2024 and how are you doing on your New Year’s resolutions? Can you even remember them much less have you kept them? Truth be told, most people struggle to make the changes they vowed to make at the beginning of the year. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t value in resolving to grow and improve.
More and more people are opting to make resolutions later in the year. Change can often be easier when the weather is better. More sunshine and warmth puts us in better moods and can help motivate us to make those changes and go after those goals.
We often fail to follow on making changes because we focus on the “should” versus the “why”. “Should” can make us feel guilty or obligated, whereas the “why” can speak to something bigger as to what we are really trying to accomplish. For instance, instead of I “should lose 15 pounds,” think of the “why”? It might be that you want to lose 15 pounds to be healthier. The “why” can then lead you to make your primary focus on being “healthier” – which can come in many forms, rather than being focused on a number on a scale.
So determine your “why” and maybe now is the time to make a Mid-Year Resolution!
