Listen Live

“Your attention, please.”  Ever wish you could say that over a loudspeaker?  Whether it’s in your workplace, at home or maybe that person  you are interested in dating, how do you get people’s attention?  How do you get people to engage?

An article on spoke to this idea and it’s just two simple things:

  1. Call people by their name.  That might sound basic, but pay attention to how often you have conversations where you never call someone by name or they don’t use yours. One of the sweetest sounds to our ears is someone saying our name. It immediately makes us perk up, feel recognized and noticed, and makes us engage.
  2. Ask them questions about ourselves.  We live in a very “me-centered” culture. When we ask people about themselves it shows that we are interested in them and that feels good. When they feel that way, they are more likely to engage with you!

No loudspeaker needed – just call people by their names more often and ask them questions.  Pretty simple, huh?
