Whether it’s different routines, no access to a gym or excessive quarantine-snacking, if you feel like you’ve been gaining weight recently, the struggle is real!  It’s possible that binge-watching and binge-eating are going hand-in-hand with you. If you are like me, you are hoping to come out of this not only healthy, but not gaining 15 pounds in the process, too!

For starters, it’s normal that in these anxious times you are stress-eating, so you can give yourself a pass if you broke down and ate a sleeve of cookies in one sitting.  That said, moving forward it’s wise to be aware of how much you are going to the fridge or pantry to cope. You can help break this pattern by trying to be more scheduled in your eating times.  Also, after you eat a meal, wait 20 minutes.  Typically, you should feel full at that time and will less likely want to eat more.

Secondly, even though you might not be able to get to the gym, that doesn’t mean you can’t exercise.  Whether it’s in your home or outside (at a safe-distance from others), you can still go for walks.  Getting off the couch and moving around, will do wonders for both your physical and mental health.  If you want to take it up a notch, you can do some “bodyweight” exercises – these are exercise that don’t require weights or equipment, like squats, crunches and push-ups.

Side-note – buying someone a Peloton bike for Christmas doesn’t seem so silly now, does it?
