Listen Live

It’s something you were probably thrilled to learn about early on, but now…maybe not so much.  That’s this week’s Tune up Tuesday – a little nugget you can use to tune up your relationship.

When you first started dating, you and your partner were probably thrilled to learn about each other’s interests… their favorite movies, books, musicians, and activities.  But, as your relationship progresses, maybe not as much.

Here’s your tune up this week: continue to show interests in your partner’s passions.  I’ll give you an example from our relationship.  Andy is really into improv comedy.  He performs at a couple spots here in town.  I’ll go see shows with him and then we’ll talk about the shows afterwards.  We’ll dissect them.  I’ll share my opinion, I’ll ask questions.  It shows I’m really engaged.  And every time we go on vacation, like last week…we’ll go see an improv show in that city.

Similarly, I’m a history nerd.  So, on vacation last week we went to a Theodore Roosevelt museum and Andy talked to me about it afterwards…what I thought, what I liked about it, etc.  And he was actively engaged at the museum, not acting as if it was torturous.

If an interest is taken in your passion, in things you love… It makes you feel loved and appreciated for who you are, right?  Like with most of these tune up Tuesdays, the goal here is to help make you and your significant other feel more connected.
